Rework version of the poem 'A Birthday' by Christina Rossetti

Inspiration:

The poem 'A Birthday' written by Christina Rossetti is certainly thrilling. As I was reading through the poem, I can feel the satisfaction of the wonders that is occurring around me. Alike the whole picture had came alive, melodies sung by the birds which nested on a tree filled with ripe red apples, there's no limit of how happy I could be. The entire poem brings strong affection to me, unleashing many inspirations for this poem. After gathering my thoughts and ideas, I concluded my vision is to describe more about the atmosphere of a celebration along with how the celebration develops into a simple story.

Original poem:

My heart is like a singing bird
                  Whose nest is in a water'd shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
                  Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
                  That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these
                  Because my love is come to me.

Raise me a dais of silk and down;
                  Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
                  And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
                  In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;
Because the birthday of my life
                  Is come, my love is come to me.

Rework version:

Excitement is in the air,

Like a child who receives candy.

Jolly mood I am in,

Because today’s celebrant is me.

Friends and family come,

Even James, the one who is funny.

All brings best wishes and hopes,

As grateful as I could ever be.

Joyous is the atmosphere,

An enormous circular dessert was presented,

Coated in a sweet thick icing and fruit toppings.

This is a celebration that I had always wanted.

Presents as high as mountains,

Filled with secrets and surprises,

Vivid colours shine through my heart.

Oh, how I wonder what it comprises.
